The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to officially announce the appointment of Ms. Carolyn Siemens as the Associate Principal of St. Mary School in Taber, effective for the 2026/2027 school year. Ms. Siemens, who currently serves as the Acting Associate Principal, brings over two decades of experience and a deep-rooted connection to the St. Mary’s community.
For Ms. Siemens, St. Mary’s is more than just a workplace—it is home. An alumna of the school herself, she has seen her own children follow in her footsteps, with her daughter graduating last year and her son currently attending.
Since joining the staff in 2004, Ms. Siemens has taught a diverse range of subjects across all grade levels, including Social Studies, Physical Education, Religion, Language Arts, and Foods. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom; she manages the school’s social media, coordinates the breakfast program, and leads the travel club.
"St. Mary’s has a special place in my heart," says Siemens. "I have always been invested in our community. The gym has always been my happy place, and I enjoy cheering on all of our student-athletes. I am looking forward to serving in this new leadership role where I can work closely with staff, students, and families to ensure students receive an education rooted in faith."
Ms. Siemens holds a Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Education from the Master of Teaching program at the University of Calgary.
Her leadership is characterized by service, both within the school and the broader Taber community. In addition to her professional role, she remains deeply committed to her community through her ongoing volunteer work. She currently serves as an active member of St. Augustine’s Parish, supports the Taber Titans and the Municipal District of Taber Sports Hall of Fame, and dedicates time to the Taber Food Bank.
An avid traveler and hiker, her energetic approach to life is mirrored in her spiritual life. She draws daily strength from Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things in him who strengthens me." To Ms. Siemens, this verse is a constant reminder to trust in God’s plan and have faith that He provides the perseverance needed for any challenge.
Principal Josh Van Uden noted that Ms. Siemens’ appointment strengthens the leadership foundation at St. Mary’s.
"We are thrilled to have Carolyn Siemens join the administration team," says Van Uden. "As a former student, a veteran teacher of over 20 years, and a dedicated coach, Carolyn understands the pulse of St. Mary’s deeply. Her heart for service and her proven leadership in both the classroom and our athletic programs make her the perfect fit for this new chapter."
The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division congratulates Ms. Siemens on her formal appointment and looks forward to her continued contributions to the academic and spiritual growth of the students in Taber.
